Miter Saw On The Go

For several years now I’ve been part of the crew on the Outdoor Channel’s TV show Renovation Hunters.  We get dropped in some pretty remote places and have 8 days to renovate run down cabins and houses to help reintroduce a new generation to the outdoors.  With that remoteness comes the challenge of little to no power supply, big box stores hours away and an extreme reliability on the tools you have on hand.  Which is why I’m very familiar with the Metabo HPT Hybrid 10″ compound miter saw.

From trim, to framing, to furniture builds and more I’ve used this sliding miter saw on the jobsite almost as much as I’ve used the tools in my woodshop.  So why not kick off a review?

Metabo HPT Hybrid Miter Saw Details

Features and Specifications:

  • Hybrid Power Source: One of the standout features of this saw is its ability to switch between a cordless and a corded power source, offering unparalleled versatility. The 36-volt battery provides significant power and runtime for a cordless tool, while the option to plug it in ensures uninterrupted work for longer projects.
  • Dual Bevel and Sliding Compound Mechanism: It offers a dual bevel capability allowing users to make precise bevel cuts in both directions without having to flip the workpiece. The sliding compound feature also extends its cutting capacity, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
  • Laser Guide: The integrated laser guide enhances precision by projecting a clear cutting line, which is particularly useful in complex cuts or in environments with less-than-ideal lighting.
  • 10-inch Blade: The size of the blade makes it capable of handling most cutting jobs, from fine woodwork to construction lumber, providing a good balance between portability and cutting capacity.

Design and Build Quality: Metabo HPT is known for its durable and well-designed tools, and this miter saw is no exception. It features a robust construction that can withstand the rigors of a job site while maintaining accuracy and precision. The saw’s design is user-friendly, with controls that are intuitive and easily accessible. The added portability of being able to use it cordlessly enhances its appeal to professionals and DIY enthusiasts who might need to use it in various locations.

Value: While the price point of the Metabo HPT MultiVolt miter saw may be higher than some of its competitors, the hybrid functionality, performance, and build quality justify the investment. It’s a versatile tool that can replace multiple others, saving space and money in the long run.
